This is a shabby chic kind of craft that can add so much to a home. I love my buttons and what better way to make a heart out of them! I ended up buying this great frame at an antique mall for only $1.50! It was a horrible green color though... I did a simple white wash finish to give it that shabby look. Next I cut out a heart and glued buttons all over it, in no specific pattern, but I wanted to make sure most of the paper didn't show through. Overlapping is key! Then I went to Hobby Lobby and tried to find the most 'country' looking paper I could find - only 59 cents plus 40% off with a coupon. (Hobby Lobby you will soon find out is my favorite store). With that paper I made a nice little mat around the edges to give it more depth. Then lastly glue the heart in the center then there you go!
